Welcome to our Pre-School
Situated in the small picturesque Pennine village of Oxenhope, West Yorkshire, Oxenhope Pre-School has been serving the local community for in excess of 40 years.
We are based in Oxenhope Community Centre and are ten miles west of Bradford, five miles south of Keighley and close to the popular Brontë village of Haworth.
We pride ourselves in providing a fun environment for pre-schoolers aged 2 - 4 years to learn through play whilst being supervised by our qualified and experienced pre-school staff.
FREE 15 hour places are available through the government free nursery places scheme for all 3 and 4 year olds and certain 2 year olds. For the families who wish to use the free 30 hours funding place we can offer 29.5 hours. Please speak to us to discuss whether you qualify for this. For those who do not qualify or who claim their funding elsewhere we charge £12.50 per session for 3 & 4 year olds and £13.50 for 2 year olds per session.
Our opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9am – 3pm and Friday 9am – 12pm. Breakfast club is available each morning 8.30-9am. Breakfast club is £3.50 which includes breakfast. This is a fee paying session unless you are claiming for 30 hours funding.
Our pre-school is very much a part of the local community being run by a volunteer committee who live in the surrounding areas. It has been run this way since it was started in 1960 by a group of local mums who recognised the need for a local provision for their pre-school children.
We provide a happy, relaxing environment where good behaviour is encouraged and the children are given the freedom to explore the many activities available, from painting to playdough, dolls to dinosaurs and tricycles to toy kitchens to name but a few.
Recognising the needs of small children, a mid-morning snack and drink are also provided to keep them fuelled up to enjoy their morning to the full.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to track your child’s development and plan our activities. We are registered and monitored by Ofsted. Our most recent Ofsted report from October 2014 graded us as ‘Good’ and said that “children are happy and settled and make good progress”.
As well as the committee all parents are an important part of the pre-school and we encourage each parent to spend a morning with us, to play with the children and assist staff by preparing the daily snack. There is a parent rota to complete.
We can accommodate children of all abilities as our staff are trained and qualified to work with children with Special Educational Needs. Our building is wheelchair accessible.
Oxenhope Pre-School is a registered charity and fundraising forms an important part of our activities. Our fundraising events are primarily aimed at providing fun extracurricular activities for the children, such as our popular under 7s discos and sponsored bunny hop.
