Children's Quotes

"My bestest thing about pre-school is I can see my friends and play allllll day!"

"I like to do singing and have my snack and sit together and have our dinner"

" I like pre-school cos we get to play outside and go to the park and you push us on the swing".

Play, Learning & Development

We follow the EYFS framework and our activities, themes and provision are planned based on the children's individual needs, interests and next steps. You can find more about the EYFS Framework and Learning Outcomes HERE

What to expect, When?

This document helps parents with ideas of how you can support your child from birth to five at home. Find out more information HERE.

Assessments

We carry out daily informal observations of your child's play which are uploaded to your child's Tapestry online learning journey. If your child is aged 2, we will complete a 'Two Year Progress Check'. You will have the opportunity to meet with your child's Key Person three times a year to discuss your child's progress and development at pre-school. Staff are also always on hand to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.

Partnership Working

We believe that parents are the first and foremost educators in their child's life. You know them better than anyone else. When your child starts with us, we will ask you to complete an 'All About Me' and Starting Points Assessment to help us get to know your child and plan appropriate play activities for them based on their interests and needs. We also like to work in partnership with other settings such as if your child attends another nursery or childminder as well as Oxenhope Pre-School.

Stay & Play and Family Events

We like to involve the whole family in pre-school life so we regularly host Stay and Play sessions that you can attend and we also host regular events such as a Christmas Fair, Easter/Halloween Disco, Sports Day, Nativity Play and End of Term parties. The whole family can attend these as we really value the relationships we build with not only the child, but their family too.

Outdoor Learning

Children have free flow access to the outdoor area for the majority of the day. We also regularly visit the local park, football field and nature area to promote learning and a love of the outdoors.

Uniform

Uniform is not compulsory however some parents may

wish to send their child to pre-school wearing uniform

as it saves their usual clothes. These are priced from

£9.45 per sweatshirt, £10.45 for cardigans and from

£7.50 per polo. Please ensure all clothing and items

such as coats/lunch boxes are named.

Uniform can be paired with any

trousers/ skirt/ leggings etc. You can order pre-school

uniform from www.termtimewear.com.

Child Protection Policy

Safeguarding means protecting a child’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is about working together to support children and young people to make decisions about the risks they face in their own lives and protecting those who lack the capacity to make these decisions. We all share responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, whether as a parent or family member; a friend or neighbour; a teacher or carer; or as a paid or volunteer worker.

Special Educational Needs Policy

Our pre-school aims to provide a happy, stimulating, and secure environment for all our children. We believe that all children are entitled to an education that enables them to achieve the best possible educational and other outcomes and become confident young children with a growing ability to communication their own views and who are ready to make the transition into compulsory education.

Behaviour Management Policy

We believe that children flourish best when their personal, social, and emotional needs are understood, supported and met and where there are clear, fair and developmentally appropriate expectations for the behaviour.
